Our history

C1 Espresso opened back in 1996 when High Street was full of brothels and boarded-up shops. It was an archetypal 90’s cafe built inside the Para rubber building, bumping elbows with a bicycle shop. C1 Espresso was a place where you could smoke over late-night coffee or catch a DJ playing till late. We have come a long way since our early days, but we will always have fond memories of the cafe where our journey to where we are now began.
